ADSL VC - Video Conferencing
![]()
IP based Video Conferencing is commonly based on the H.323 standard. A typical business quality video conference runs at 384kb/s and can deliver TV quality video at 30 frames per second. To enable the image to be sent and received this figure is then doubled. The recommended connection speed is therefore 1Mb/s in both directions.
If you are looking at the new HD systems now becoming available a minimum line speed of 2Mb/s is recommended.
ADSL4 provides cost effective low contention xDSL lines that are bonded together and presented to the Video Conferencing network as a single IP connection. Additional lines are simply added if more bandwidth is needed. If in the event of a line failure no loss of connectivity would occur, just a slight drop in speed. If you were to use 8 x SDSL lines a network speed of 16Mb/s in both directions is achievable.
